first day of demolition

derek took these these in the morning when he got to the house to meet the contractors. they had started already and we wasn't prepared for 'so much' having already been done.
the patio cover had already been taken down...they were breaking up the concrete ground.some of the walls that were marked to be taken down
they started to take down the garage as well.
i stopped by the house at around 11:30. i HAD to get some food (i forgot to eat this morning. bad me!) and was anxious to see what had been done so far.
this is the view from the end of the driveway.
view from garage through to the front doorfrom the patio into the house past the dining and kitchen area. you can see through the second bedroom!standing in the space of the picture above, looking through that spare bedroom.
[my friend patty from work came with me]
a picture of the hallway coat closet...through to the other side, which used to have another closet behind it.
view from hallway into the livingroom
after school and picking up the kids, we stopped by again, around 3:00pm
another view of the garage from the end of the driveway

view from front porch area into the house. lots dusty insulation stuff all over
from the same spot, but looking up
from the same area again, but through to the garage
around the back of the house, looking through the side of the house. i kind of like this one...a long shot...

the pile of rubble on the right side was formerly the fireplace!
on the right side of the house now, looking into the second bedroom (and through it)
matthew surveys the debris in the garage

This is the LAST of everything. Honest. The house is now empty.

getting the last of the stuff out that we can do ourselves...

Preface

Okay. I probably should've started this blog like two years ago, when we first started this endeavor, but then I probably would've been so frustrated that I wouldn't even have wanted to post a thing. So instead, I'm starting it today.
I met with Izzy (sp?) today the the City to pay the permit fees so that he could get the plans. So this is where our story begins...
(never mind all the past HEADACHES. I do NOT want to recount them here.)
Let's just look ahead, why don't we?

BUT, I do want to include what few pictures I have of the last of the 'moving out' stuff.
